With it's abbeys, castles, fishing villages and beautiful beaches, the Hook peninsula must have more history per square metre than anywhere in Ireland. The headland, along with nearby Crooke Head, give rise to the phrase 'By Hook or by Crooke'. Most famous of all is the Hook Lighthouse, one of the oldest functioning lighthouses in the world. Visit the visitors centre and medieval tower - who knows, you might even see a whale or two.
