Lismore has its roots in the 7th century, when it was a seat of early Christian learning. The Lismore Heritage Centre brings history, architecture and people of the town to life through exhibitions and film - with characters like Miler Mac Grath, Walter Raleigh, Richard and Robert Boyle - father of modern chemistry and the Duke of Devonshire. A guided tour takes visitors through this unspoilt, picturesque town framed by its famous castle and Blackwater river.
