This is a must for all those wishing to learn of the town's illustrious past. The Heritage Centre has an award winning audio visual display of Lismore history (in English, French, German and Italian) in which your host Brother Declan (alias Niall Toibin) takes you on an enthralling journey through time, starting with the arrival of St. Carthage in 636 and bringing you right up to the present. Stroll through the recently refurbished exhibition galleries and come face to face with the historic figures that shaped Lismore Town through the ages. Also here is a new exhibition space dedicated to the life and works of Robert Boyle 'The Father Of Modern Chemistry' and author of 'Boyles Law.

The Main Exhibition Gallery
Here the visitor can stroll through the recently refurbished exhibition space and come face to face with the historic figures who have shaped Lismore since its foundation in 636. It was establish as a monastic settlement that flourished to become one of the great centre's of learning and retained its importance until the end of the 10th century.

Here you can discover how other important historical figures such as Miler McGrath, Walter Raleigh, Richard Boyle and the Dukes of Devonshire's that now reside at Lismore Castle, shaped these historical places past. Replicas of the ancient treasures of the town are on display (including the Lismore Crozier). Discover the amazing tale of how they lay buried in the walls of the Lismore Castle for several hundred years.

Find out about the many famous people who visited this place over the centuries including William Thackery, John F Kennedy and even Fred Astaire.

The Robert Boyle Science Room
Developed in 2004 this new exhibition gallery is dedicated to the life and works of Robert Boyle 'The Father of Modern Chemistry' who was born in Lismore Castle in 1627. Here the visitor can discover the importance of Boyle scientific discoveries through an animated film on his life and works. In it's initial year this film has been acclaimed by both student and adult.

Boyle's law examining the relationship between volume and pressure was considered to be one of the most important scientific discoveries of that time and is still studied by students of science throughout the world.

At the Lismore Heritage Centre Craft Shop we have an exclusive range of crafts available for all occasions, weddings and birthdays.
